Autumn 2004 Children's Book Sense Picks

This week, Book Sense is announcing the Autumn 2004 Children's Book Sense Picks, based on the nominations of independent booksellers nationwide. The mailing of printed fliers to stores with Book Sense will begin on September 1.

The list features a wealth of wonderful titles for children of all ages and interests. While only one bookseller's quote accompanies each title listing, every nomination was critically important in formulating this list.

Outstanding New England Sales Rep to Be Recognized

On Tuesday, August 17, the New England Booksellers Association (NEBA) announced that John Muse was named the recipient of the 2004 Saul Gilman Award for outstanding New England Sales representative. Presented annually, the Gilman Awards were established in 1990 to recognize outstanding service to independent bookstores in New England by publishers' sales representatives. The award is accompanied by a $1,000 grant from NEBA to a literacy organization chosen by the winner.

NEBA 'Read Around' Now All Year Round

In October 2002, the New England Booksellers Association (NEBA) launched Read Around New England (RANE), a unique, 10-day celebration designed to highlight New England's rich literary talent and diverse array of independent bookstores. A year later, the event was expanded to one month.
