April 30 Deadline to Sign-Up for Harry Potter Retailer Coupon Program

Booksellers who would like to participate in Scholastic's Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix Retailer Coupon Program must sign-up by April 30. A registration form is available on the Scholastic Web site at http://www.scholastic.com/custsupport/booksellers/hpv/vendors.asp. Retailers without Internet access may contact their sales representative to sign up.

California's Tax Committee Approves Online Sales Tax Bill

On March 26, California's Senate Revenue and Taxation Committee approved a bill that would clarify existing California sales tax laws and force retailers with bricks-and-mortar stores or warehouses in California to charge sales tax for purchases made online by California residents. The bill, S.B. 103, was introduced by Senator Deirdre Alpert (D-Coronado) in late January.
