ABA's Second New England Forum Next Week

Booksellers are invited to attend an ABA Booksellers Forum to be held in Storrs, Connecticut, at the UConn Co-op, on Thursday, May 1, from 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. The forum will follow a meeting of the New England Children's Booksellers Association and a reception for booksellers.

Amazon Goes to Court to Protect Customer's Privacy

On April 10, in U.S. District Court of South Carolina's Charleston Division, Amazon argued to block a government's subpoena to turn over the purchase records of a Charleston real estate broker who the U.S. government alleged received child pornography. Ultimately, the government's effort to access the customer's book purchase records from Amazon officially ended after a plea arrangement was worked out between the defendant and authorities.

USA Today Book Club Picks Jarhead

On Thursday, April 17, USA Today announced the selection of Jarhead: A Marine's Chronicle of the Gulf War and Other Battles by Anthony Swofford (Scribner) as its next book club title.

USA Today described Jarhead as "a morally questioning soldier's story from the 1991 Gulf War that gained resonance during the new war with Iraq."
