Some of the best fiction and nonfiction is born out of crisis, and the human struggle – for peace, for freedom, for safety – is the backbone of some of our most enduring works of literature. Join five writers for a discussion of how they approach writing about crisis, and how stories of crisis can inform and inspire readers. With Julia Alvarez, Erik Larson, James McBride, and David Simon, moderated by Emma Straub. Panelists: Erik Larson, author, Penguin Random House, Julia Alvarez, author, Algonquin, James McBride, author, Penguin Random House, David Simon, author, Akashic Books, Emma Straub, Books Are Magic (Brooklyn, NY)
American Booksellers Association is a national trade association that supports and advocates for the success of independent bookstores. We provide members with education, networking opportunities, advocacy, resources, and technology. In turn our members support local schools through book fairs, donations and author visits; promote literacy; provide inclusive community centers; connect readers and books; add character to neighborhoods; champion and center diverse and new voices; and contribute to the local economy. We feel honored to support them in their work.
