This session provides kids focused booksellers and bookstore owners with the opportunity to come together for an open conversation to share best practices, talk about their business, and have a dialogue on the developing needs of children's bookstores and booksellers.

Book bans aren’t just happening at the school board level! Many state legislatures are undermining the freedom to read by passing laws limiting the books students can access and dictating what educators can use in their classrooms. These laws can even reach beyond our schools to impact libraries and independent book stores. Want to learn the latest book banning trends and what new legislation to watch for this year? Join us to hear from Philomena Polefrone from the American Booksellers Association and learn what is coming through our state houses and how we fight back.

About ABA

The American Booksellers Association, a national not-for-profit trade organization, works with booksellers and industry partners to ensure the success and profitability of independently owned book retailers, and to assist in expanding the community of the book.

Independent bookstores act as community anchors; they serve a unique role in promoting the open exchange of ideas, enriching the cultural life of communities, and creating economically vibrant neighborhoods.
