Booksellers and bookstore owners who identify as a member of the Disability community are invited to gather for connection, support, community, resources, & networking. The term disability includes but is not limited to physical, sensory, cognitive, intellectual, or developmental disabilities, chronic conditions, and mental illnesses. If you are currently in the process of exploring your identity and relationship with the disabled community, please do not self-reject. You are welcome.

Booksellers interested in attending should visit their Member Dashboard and join through Email Subscriptions. Don't have a login? Request one here.

Based on feedback from the Fall 2023 Affinity Groups survey, meetings may be attended by & facilitated by DEIA Member Relations Manager, Mariana Calderón, though facilitation by volunteer bookseller will be prioritized, pending availability of volunteers.

While allies are greatly appreciated, these closed sessions are available only for individuals who identify as members of these communities, and those who do not identify as disabled should not plan to attend.

This is an opportunity for Board members to hear from members. The Board is responsible for listening to members and futurecasting to inform ABA’s ends policies, the overall goals for the organization. The Board reviews the ends policies every summer. ABA Board Office Hours are an opportunity for the Board to hear from members about what they’re concerned about for the future of their stores and what is missing from the current ends policies that members believe is needed to guide ABA to meet their needs. (For questions about ABA operations please contact [email protected] or watch for ABA staff and membership open houses.)

About ABA

American Booksellers Association is a national trade association that supports and advocates for the success of independent bookstores. We provide members with education, networking opportunities, advocacy, resources, and technology. In turn our members support local schools through book fairs, donations and author visits; promote literacy; provide inclusive community centers; connect readers and books; add character to neighborhoods; champion and center diverse and new voices; and contribute to the local economy. We feel honored to support them in their work.
