The American Booksellers Association’s 9th annual Children’s Institute (Ci9) will be held virtually on event platform Hopin from August 30–September 1, 2021.

A favorite event on the bookselling calendar, Children’s Institute is open to all ABA member booksellers.

Booksellers who received a scholarship to the 2020 institute have the right of first refusal to participate as a scholarship recipient at the 2021 event. Scholarships are ultimately awarded to ABA member stores (not individual booksellers), and the attendee must have permission from the store owner(s) to use that scholarship this year.

Questions about the institute should be directed to [email protected].

A closed space for BIPOC booksellers & BIPOC bookstore owners only to gather for connection, support, community, resources, and networking during Ci9 (registration for Ci9 is not required to attend this meetup). Booksellers interested in attending should use the sign-up form at the bottom of the ABA Meetups page to join the BIPOC Meetups mailing list (if you've already signed up in 2021, you do not need to sign up again).
BIPOC allies and booksellers who do not identify as BIPOC should not plan to attend. We appreciate your help maintaining the BIPOC meet-up as a closed space for BIPOC booksellers and BIPOC bookstore owners only.

About ABA

American Booksellers Association is a national trade association that supports and advocates for the success of independent bookstores. We provide members with education, networking opportunities, advocacy, resources, and technology. In turn our members support local schools through book fairs, donations and author visits; promote literacy; provide inclusive community centers; connect readers and books; add character to neighborhoods; champion and center diverse and new voices; and contribute to the local economy. We feel honored to support them in their work.
