Booksellers Advisory Council Welcomes New Members

When the American Booksellers Association's Booksellers Advisory Council (BAC) convenes prior to the Winter Institute, in Long Beach at the end of this month, the 25-member council will welcome nine new volunteers to its ranks. Appointed for two-year terms by ABA's president, currently Mitchell Kaplan of Books & Books in Miami, with input from ABA staff and the regional booksellers associations, BAC members provide ABA's Board of Directors with input reflecting a broad cross-section of views on issues of concern to independent booksellers.

Booksellers joining the BAC in January are:

  • Liz Houghton Barden, Big Hat Books, Indianapolis, Indiana
  • Fran Keilty, Hickory Stick Bookshop, Washington Depot, Connecticut
  • Tom Lowry, Lowry's Books, Three Rivers, Michigan
  • Tom Montan, Copperfield's Books, Sebastopol, California
  • Candace Moreno, San Marino Toy and Book Shoppe, San Marino, California
  • Mark Mouser, University Book Store, Seattle, Washington
  • Sarah Pishko, Prince Books, Norfolk, Virginia
  • Paula Steige, Macdonald Book Shop, Estes Park, Colorado
  • Ken White, SFSU Bookstore (San Francisco State University Bookstore), San Francisco, California

The nine new appointees fill vacancies on the BAC that opened as a result of the conclusion of the terms of the following members in June 2005:

One two-year term ends this month:
