The two newest members of the American Booksellers Foundation for Free Expression Board of Directors are Becky Anderson and Dan Cullen. Anderson was elected to a one-year term as ABFFE vice president. She is part of the fifth generation of Andersons at the helm of Anderson's Bookshops in Naperville, Aurora, and Downers Grove, Illinois. Anderson is also the vice president of the American Booksellers Association.

The Boston Globe-Horn Book Awards
Presented annually since 1967, the Boston Globe-Horn Book Awards reward excellence in children's and young adult literature and are given in three categories: Fiction and Poetry, Nonfiction, and Picture Book.
On May 13, the winners of the second annual Children's Choice Book Awards were announced by the Children's Book Council (CBC) in association with Every Child a Reader, Inc. (the CBC Foundation). More than 220,000 votes were cast by children via the Children's Book Week website at www.BookWeekOnline.com to choose the winners.

Books & Books in Coral Gables, Florida, is observing Genocide Prevention Month with a sneak preview of The Last Survivor, a documentary to be released this fall that follows the stories of four genocide survivors who have become anti-genocide advocates. On March 12, Catherine and Tony Weller announced that Salt Lake City's Sam Weller's Books is planning to leave its 40,000-square-foot location at 254 South Main Street, in the David Keith Building, where it has operated since 1961.
Carmichael's Bookstore in Louisville, Kentucky, has been named the recipient of this year's Publishers Weekly Bookseller of the Year Award. Co-owners Carol Besse and Michael Boggs were stunned, said Besse. "We're really gratified to have been nominated, and we just didn't have any expectation at all that we would win." PW cited the bookstore's close relationship with its customers, as well as its tripling profits over the past decade.
