Wanted: Your Independents Week Experiences

Printer-friendly versionPrinter-friendly version

If you've created successful Independents Week celebrations in the past, or have great ideas for future events, the American Booksellers Association wants to hear from you.

Bookseller input is needed to make the Day of Education session "Independents Week: Creating a Community-Wide Local First Celebration at Any Time of the Year" at BookExpo America into an invaluable learning experience for the owners, marketing staff, and events coordinators at ABA member stores.

It's vital to indie businesses to create a community that understands and practices Local First. For this session, ABA would like to present examples of past Independents Week activities and practical tips for creating successful events for communities of any size. The goal is to help booksellers host the best Indie Week -- whether it is in July, December, or somewhere in between.

Booksellers willing to share their Independents Week experiences are asked to send an e-mail to Meg Smith, ABA chief marketing officer.
