Three-Month Bookseller Action List: April - June 2006

Here are reminders about ABA and Book Sense events, deadlines, and other action items for the next three months. This list may also be downloaded in PDF format.

APRIL

  • Vote for ABA Board of Directors
    In March, ABA mailed ballots to approve officers and elect directors to the ABA Board. Ballots must be postmarked by Monday, April 17, 2006, and returned in the postage-paid envelope addressed to KPMG. Ballots received by KPMG after April 24 will not be counted. Voting is open to all ABA bookstore members.

  • Attend an ABA Bookseller Forum & Education Program
    ABA is wrapping up its 2006 winter/spring schedule with five programs this month: San Francisco, California, on Sunday, April 2; Huntington Beach, California, on Tuesday, April 4; Iowa City, Iowa, on Saturday, April 8; Syracuse, New York, on Thursday, April 20; Westford, Massachusetts, on Wednesday, April 26.   • RSVP for ABA's Legislative Day at BEA
    On Wednesday, May 17, in Washington, D.C., at the Doubletree Crystal City and on Capitol Hill from noon to 7:00 p.m., ABA member booksellers will have the opportunity to hear about current public policy issues affecting the book industry and to meet with their senators and representatives. Booksellers who would like to participate must RSVP to ABA by May 1, in order for the association to be able to attempt to set up appointments with congressional members and appropriate legislative staff, as well as to prepare for lunch.   • Register for BookExpo America and ABA's Thursday "Day of Education"
    Register online at www.bookexpoamerica.com.

  • Display & Distribute
    Put out the April Book Sense Picks and Spring 2006 Poetry Top Ten Picks and print and display the weekly Book Sense Bestseller List.

  • Nominate to the Book Sense Picks Lists
