In preparation for the credit card industry’s transition to EMV chip cards by October 2015, Bancard Systems, ABA’s affiliated credit card processing company, is providing its small business clients with a detailed flier (BookWeb username and password required) detailing how merchants should plan for the switch.

Bancard currently has a range of solutions to manage EMV transactions, including EMV-enabled terminals and point-of-sale systems. Additionally, through the flier, Bancard has provided information about the transition to EMV chip cards, why it is important for merchants to be prepared, and the benefits of upgrading to accept EMV chip cards.

EMV chip card technology is being implemented across the United States to combat increasing instances of fraud. By October, retailers must be equipped with EMV-certified card terminals at their points of sale or potentially be held liable for fraudulent purchases.
