The Set Books Free Project American Booksellers for Free Expression (ABFE) is soft-launching the Set Books Free Project, a book donation initiative to create a pipeline of banned and diverse books from independent booksellers and their customers to the places experiencing the most bans. A recording of the August 19 event explaining the program and introducing some of our partners is now available on Bookweb. The ABA Right to Read Handbook Have you requested your digital ARC of The ABA Right to Read Handbook yet? There’s still time to pre-order The Handbook before it goes on sale on September 16! If you have already received your ARC, you are invited to send blurbs and comments to [email protected]. CCCA Fly-In As part of our fly-in, the Merchants Payments Coalition (MPC) is looking to schedule virtual meetings with the Senators from Alaska and Hawaii with retailers based in those states. We are hoping to schedule these on Thursday, September 26, the day after our in-person fly-in. Any stores in either state that are interested in participating should reach out to [email protected]. Alaska and Hawaii are two key states for us and having constituents speak out about the impact of swipe fees on their businesses and the importance of the Credit Card Competition Act (CCCA) is critical.
