Winter Institute Reminders
 

The Winter Institute hotel block opened yesterday! 

  • Check your email for the booking link from [email protected].
  • If one of the hotels is sold out, select a different hotel and proceed to make your reservation. You will be prompted to acknowledge that one or more nights are waitlisted.
  • The Cincinnati Housing Bureau will individually follow up with waitlisted attendees to make sure that everyone gets placed prior to the event, including adding nights to existing reservations or other modifications and securing additional lodging. 
  • Questions regarding hotel reservations should be directed to [email protected].

The Membership team has recently expanded! We've reorganized the Member Relations Managers to better serve you. 

The Member Relations Managers will be reaching out to their respective regions to introduce themselves soon! Should you need them, their contact information is available in the Member Dashboard. 

Members can also register for the ABA Membership Team Office Hours on November 14 to meet the Membership team.

Petition Drive: Florida Bans Books with Gay Characters

The American Booksellers for Free Expression (ABFE) is urging Florida booksellers to sign and share a petition in response to a school district banning books with LGBTQ+ characters and themes.

ABFE will send the petition to the Charlotte County school district as well as the Florida Department of Education and state congressional leadership.

James Patterson Holiday Bookstore Bonus

Nominations are open for the James Patterson Holiday Bookstore Bonus Program!

James Patterson has increased his contribution, pledging a total of $300,000! This year, 600 booksellers from ABA member bookstores will receive $500. 

Booksellers can self-nominate to be considered for a bonus, or they can be nominated by bookstore customers, owners, employees, managers, fellow booksellers, publishing professionals, or authors. 

The deadline for nominations is November 15.
