Here’s a sneak peek at some of the exclusives 

Part of the Independent Bookstore Day experience is offering exclusive book and book-related items created especially for the celebration. Each year, we work with publishers, vendors, and the Indie Bookstore Day Advisory Committee made up of booksellers from across the country to have limited books and bookish merchandise produced for bookstores to sell in-store or online. 

We are thrilled with the final catalog of exclusives for you to choose from! This year, our exclusives proudly feature authors and contributors who are Vietnamese American, LGBTQIA+, Nigerian American, and more, as well as items to help you get out the vote and fight book bans. It is our goal every year to include more diverse offerings and we continue to work with publishers on their exclusive submissions.

Thanks again to the Indie Bookstore Day Advisory Committee for helping us select exclusives that will appeal to a range of stores and customers. Please note that many items in the catalog have limits on how many your store can order so that as many stores as possible can offer exclusives. The catalog will be made available on October 13 before ordering opens.

How Ordering Will Work On October 20:

  • You must be a logged-in ABA member to access the form. If you do not know your login credentials please email us at [email protected]. 
  • An Ingram Ship To Account number is required. Setup an account at Ingram Onboarding.
  • Be sure to provide the shipping address (it may be different from the billing address).
  • If your store is in multiple locations, you must fill out a form for each store location (unless all ordered items can go to the main account’s location) or RDC.
  • You must purchase a minimum of 20 paid items (individually or bulk packaged — bulk packaged items count as 1) in order to receive free shipping and the freebies like bookmarks, activity kits, and stickers. If you select less than 20 paid items, you will not be able to order the freebies and will pay the $6 flat shipping fee. Free items, Blackwing Pencils and T-shirts do not count towards the 20-item minimum.
  • Due to supply chain issues we will not be changing orders after the closing date of November 10. 
  • Independent Bookstore Day is open to those who are members of ABA, as well as their regional booksellers association.

Key Dates to Know:

  • October 13, 2023: The Independent Bookstore Day 2024 catalog goes live for preview on the Indie Bookstore Day Website 
  • October 20, 2023: Indie Bookstore Day 2024 Order and Participation Form goes live through the Member Dashboard
  • November 10, 2023: Indie Bookstore Day 2024 Exclusives Order Form closes
  • March 31, 2024: General Participation Form closes
  • April 5, 2024: Indie Bookstore Day Searchable Map goes live on IndieBound
  • Early- to mid-April: All exclusives ship to bookstores
  • April 22–26, 2024: Indie Bookstore Day Spirit Week
  • April 27, 2024, the last Saturday in April: Independent Bookstore Day

How to Participate:

There are two ways to participate in Independent Bookstore Day:

  • To purchase the exclusives and be included on the searchable map, sign-ups are open October 20–November 10, 2023. You must purchase a minimum of 20 items (individually or bulk packaged — a bulk packaged item counts as one) in order to receive the freebies like bookmarks and stickers. Free items, Blackwing pencils and T-shirts do not count towards the 20-item minimum.
  • To only be included on the searchable map without any purchases, sign-ups are open October 20, 2023–March 31, 2024.

Important Reminders:

  • Lock in your orders before November 10; changes won’t be possible due to supply chain issues.
  • Independent Bookstore Day is open to stores who are members of ABA, as well as their regional booksellers association.
  • Make sure to have an Ingram Account number ready to order exclusives. Set up your account at Ingram Onboarding.
