Make sure your customers and neighbors know your plans for April 29. Submit your plans through the Google Form to share with stores signed up to participate in Independent Bookstore Day.

Independent Bookstore Day (IBD) Exclusives on IndieCommerce and IndieLite

Join a member of the IndieCommerce team on Wednesday, March 22, from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm ET in a live, online, instructional webinar to discuss the Independent Bookstore Day feature for IBD 2023 on your IndieCommerce and IndieLite websites. We’ll cover how to manage the exclusive product listings and other content for the event, displaying on-hand quantities, adjusting the on-sale date and time for IBD products, managing IBD orders through your IC/IL site, and other resources available.

Promoting IBD

Now is a good time to let your customers know your store is participating in IBD! Announce in your newsletter, posters, or on social media with the digital assets and exclusive item images on BookWeb.org. If you ordered IBD bookmarks, they will arrive in your March Box Mailing.

The IBD 2023 General Participation Form is still open!*

To only be included on the searchable map without any purchases, sign-ups are open through March 31, 2023. By completing the General Participation Form, your store is signing up to participate in Independent Bookstore Day. Booksellers must be a logged-in ABA member to access the form. If you do not know your login credentials, please email us at [email protected]. 

*If you have already ordered exclusives, you do not need to complete this form.

• If your store is in multiple locations, you must fill out a form for each store location or RDC.
• Independent Bookstore Day is open to those who are members of the ABA, as well as their regional booksellers association.

  • Monday, April 24: Silly Sock Day
  • Tuesday, April 25: Plaid Tuesday
  • Wednesday, April 26: On Wednesdays We Wear Bookstore Shirts
  • Thursday, April 27: Book Character Dress-Up Day
  • Friday, April 28: YOUR store’s Spirit Day
• April 29, 2023: Independent Bookstore Day
