One, thanks for asking. Always. Two, I am really pleased to offer assurance that ABA’s commitment to free speech is unwavering, carefully considered in our deliberations and discussions on the board, and very well supported by the daily activities and initiatives of the ABA team. In fact, there’s a great update of the work from the last quarter AND of resources available to booksellers that was outlined in a recent BTW which really highlights a LOT of work done on our behalf as booksellers. This is available on BookWeb, and it’s an impressive list, and I want to publicly thank our colleagues at ABFE while I have this opportunity. Most importantly, though, I want to acknowledge and talk about the second part of your question, which deals with getting feedback from members. You are our colleagues. We represent you because you nominated us, you voted for us, and you come to our monthly mini “town hall,” to meet the board sessions and you see us at ABA events, regional events, and our contact information is posted on BookWeb. Every single thing we do on the board, which is largely focused on ENDS, not day-to-day means, is undertaken as fellow booksellers, offering the best voice that we can for all of us. Our organization, ABA, offers so many ways for members to speak, including this one. You are important, your voice is important, and your involvement is important. Your thoughts and our ongoing conversation are much more than an online poll response, and we are here every day. — Cynthia Compton, ABA Board Director, 4 Kids Books & Toys, Zionsville, IN, MacArthur Books, Carmel Indiana. *The July 14, 2022 Town Hall recording is available on BookWeb.org
