Your last chance to nominate a bookseller or yourself for ABA’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee (DEIC) is Monday, May 23. The DEIC serves as an advisory council on issues related to antiracism, equity, access, and representation facing the bookselling community and ABA.

Nominations for ABA’s Bookseller Advisory Council (BAC) are due by May 30, 2022. Booksellers and bookstore owners who work at least 20 hours a week can self-nominate to be considered to serve on the BAC, a council that helps inform ABA’s work by sharing their experience, ideas, and needs, and by offering ABA feedback. Nominations are especially needed for MIBA and MPIBA booksellers.

Credit card swipe fees are non-negotiable and U.S. businesses pay some of the highest swipe fees in the world. Act now and personalize the pre-written message to your Senators and Representative. 

The deadline to report your IBD sales has been extended through Sunday, May 22! The instructions to submit your sell-thru data are as follows:

1. Log in on BookWeb.org (you must log in with the account you used to submit your IBD order)
2. Visit your IBD Form Submission
3. Select Edit
4. Update the Quantity Sold field to indicate how many of the item you sold YTD.

The American Booksellers for Free Expression (ABFE) — ABA’s free expression initiative — and over 25 organizations joined the American Library Association’s (ALA) Unite Against Book Bans campaign. The campaign’s goal is to raise awareness about the recent rise in book challenges in public libraries and schools and to empower readers everywhere to push back against censorship.
