We need your help! We want to gain insight into how stores are doing, what you need, and how we can better support you. ABA needs this information to inform our discussions with publishers, media, and government representatives. How long will it take? 5 minutes How many questions are there? Only 18, and 1/3 of them are yes or no questions! (Note: A few questions open up additional options if you indicate “yes.”) What if I haven’t closed my financial books yet? Not a problem! You don’t need to have closed your books or have your finalized financials. We just need an idea of how you’re doing. Are results confidential? Yes! Results are aggregated. Friday, January 29 = Deadline for ABA’s Winter Institute Registration! Register by this Friday to join us for the festivities, including educational programming, keynotes, poetry interludes, rep picks, author socials, IndieCommerce one-on-ones, publisher open houses, vendor expo booths, a BIPOC meetup, a Binc fundraiser, and more. Where can I see the program? Check the Winter Institute website now for the most up-to-date program, including panels and panelists and our list of incredibly generous publisher sponsors and business partners who make this event possible. That’s an amazing list of authors! Anyone else? Yes! We have one more exciting keynote and a surprise guest to announce, but we’re still sworn to secrecy. Register now to ensure you don’t miss out. What’s the cost? $35 Will I be able to register last-minute? Unfortunately, no. Friday is the final deadline so we have time to organize rep picks sessions and bookseller breakout rooms.
Friday, February 5 = Deadline to Register for Independent Bookstore Day! Register now to be included in IBD publicity and listings, and be sure to order some of this year’s amazing exclusives. The April 24 celebration will be a virtual/in-person hybrid, and there are all kinds of ways for stores to participate. ABA is planning a press campaign leading up to IBD, so don’t miss out on being part of everything! How do I participate? To start, stores can use the order form to order merchandise and to register. Do I have to order merchandise? No! To participate, all you have to do is register. But believe me, you’re going to want to order merchandise. It’s an amazing list this year!
