Firehouse.com Joins Book Sense in Community Campaign

Book Sense recently announced that Firehouse.com, the leading fire and emergency services portal, which covers daily news and information for the emergency services sector, will be joining with Book Sense and The History Channel in supporting "The Fire on the Mountain, Campaign for Communities: Firefighter Fundraiser" promotion. The fundraiser will run from September 9 through October 25 and will coincide with a documentary based on the book Fire on the Mountain: The True Story of the South Canyon Fire (Washington Square Press) by John N. Maclean.

The Life of Pi by Yann Martel (Harcourt) will be featured in an ad in the July/August issue of The Atlantic (on newsstands the week of June 18).

The July 1 issue of The New Yorker (on sale June 24) will include a Book Sense ad featuring Running With Scissors by Augusten Burroughs (St. Martin’s Press), and the July 8 issue (on sale July 1) will feature Perma Red by Debra Magpie Earling (Blue Hen/Putnam).

USA Today Selects Its Second Book Club Title

With War Emblem only one win away from horse racing’s triple crown, the USA Today book club’s second book selection is a fitting one: Seabiscuit, by Laura Hillenbrand (Ballantine Books), winner of this year’s BookSense Book of the Year Award for adult nonfiction. The national newspaper announced the selection Thursday, May 23.
