The National Book Foundation is announcing the longlists for the 2017 National Book Awards [5]this week.

To be eligible for a 2017 National Book Award, a book must have been written by a U.S. citizen and published in the United States between December 1, 2016, and November 30, 2017.

The 2017 National Book Awards Longlist for Young People’s Literature was announced on Tuesday, September 12:

• Far From the Tree by Robin Benway (HarperTeen)
• All the Wind in the World by Samantha Mabry (Algonquin)
• You Bring the Distant Near by Mitali Perkins (Farrar, Straus and Giroux)
• Long Way Down by Jason Reynolds (Atheneum/Dlouhy)
• I Am Not Your Perfect Mexican Daughter by Erika L. Sánchez (Knopf)
• Orphan Island by Laurel Snyder (HarperCollins/Walden Pond)
