Discover ABA Member Perks at NEIBA’s Fall Conference [3]

Registration is now open for the New England Independent Booksellers Association [5]’s (NEIBA) fall regional trade show in Providence, Rhode Island, where ABA members will find an array of exclusive educational opportunities and special offers.

NEIBA logoAt the 44th Annual NEIBA Fall Conference, from Monday, September 18, to Wednesday, September 20, at the Rhode Island Convention Center, ABA will offer education sessions on ABACUS and maximizing backlist, IndieCommerce one-on-one meetings with IndieCommerce Manager Geetha Nathan, a chance to win a scholarship to Winter Institute, and more.

Booksellers are invited to stop by ABA’s booth on the trade show floor, where they will meet with ABA Senior Program Officer Joy Dallanegra-Sanger, Senior Strategy Officer Dan Cullen, and Member Relationship Manager Liz Roberts, among other ABA staff, and have a chance to check out the Winter/Spring 2018 Indies Introduce titles [6].

On September 18, both ABA and non-ABA member booksellers are invited to participate in two education sessions: “ABACUS New England: Understanding and Acting on NEIBA-Only Data from ABACUS-15,” led by ABA Board member Chris Morrow, from 2:30 p.m. to 3:45 p.m., and “Maximizing Backlist: Proven Ways to Market, Promote, and Sell Backlist Titles,” led by CEO Oren Teicher and Board members Kenny Brechner and Annie Philbrick, from 4:00 p.m. to 5:15 p.m.

Maximizing Backlist [7],” to be presented at all eight fall trade shows, focuses on how backlist titles with proven track records can be as important as frontlist titles for store sales and bottom-line profits. Booksellers will discover some of the proven ways to market, promote, and sell backlist titles as well as discover advantageous backlist terms now being offered by some publishers.

ABA member booksellers at the NEIBA trade show will also have the opportunity to meet with IndieCommerce [8] staff for one-on-one help sessions. Current IndieCommerce and IndieLite users as well as non-IndieCommerce ABA members who would like to know more about either program can book an appointment [9] with Geetha Nathan in room 558A on September 19, for any time from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Stores that sign an IndieCommerce or IndieLite contract at the show will be entered in a sweepstakes for a chance to win a free first year of service.

Additionally, for the first time this year, ABA will announce a scholarship winner for Winter Institute 2018 in Memphis at the end of each show. The winner will be selected from the pool of business cards submitted at the ABA booth throughout the show; booksellers do not need to be present at the drawing to win.

Non-ABA members who attend the NEIBA show are invited to use the promo code REGF2017 [10] to test-drive an ABA membership for free until January 31, 2018, which will allow them to enjoy member benefits, including Winter Institute. This offer will only be available until November 1.
