Walking in Memphis: Sing Along to ABA’s Winter Institute Playlists

With the 2018 Winter Institute just around the corner, booksellers should start getting out their suitcases — and singing along to the American Booksellers Association’s Winter Institute-themed playlists on Spotify.

As booksellers begin to make plans for their trip to Tennessee, ABA has compiled a playlist of more than 50 songs inspired by the great city of Memphis.

And to help booksellers get pumped for the Thacker Mountain Radio Hour, which will bring Winter Institute to a lively close on January 25, here’s ABA’s Spotify playlist featuring the music of Dar Williams, who will be one of three authors appearing on the live radio show, in addition to Charles Frazier and Elizabeth Acevedo.

Thacker Mountain will take place from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 25, in Ballroom C&D at the Memphis Cook Convention Center, and will be followed by the Winter Institute closing reception, featuring the Thacker Mountain guests, from 6:00 pm to 7:00 p.m. in the Ballroom Foyer outside of Ballroom C.

Booksellers can visit Spotify online to access the Memphis playlist or the Dar Williams playlist, or click the playlists below to start listening. If logged in to Spotify, the music will start playing; otherwise, sign in or create a free Spotify account. Songs were chosen by ABC Children’s Group Manager Gen de Botton.
