Children's Book Week posterBooksellers have until March 1 to register to serve as an official event location for the 98th annual Children’s Book Week (CBW), which takes place this year May 1–7. This year’s theme is “One World, Many Stories.”

The Children’s Book Council and Every Child a Reader are seeking 500 locations from all 50 states, including schools, libraries, and bookstores, to host dedicated story times, activity hours, or author/illustrator events. Stores can also coordinate voting opportunities for the 10th annual Children’s and Teen Choice Book Awards.

Children’s Book Week event hosts will receive the CBW poster, illustrated by Christian Robinson, and access to downloadable materials, such as Children’s Book Week bookmarks with original art by four prominent illustrators, voting ballots, and a press release template. Participating stores will also be included in the national Children’s Book Week event map and publicity campaign.

This year, for each library, school, or bookstore that participates fully in Children’s Book Week events and completes the post-CBW survey, nonprofit social enterprise First Book will make a donation to children in need.

Booksellers with questions can e-mail Children’s Book Council Executive Director Carl Lennertz.
