The IndieCommunication newsletter of February 10 presents a one-question survey on web traffic, a new schedule for IndieCommerce webinars, an update on the “Advanced Search” feature, and more.

Check Your E-mail

Phillip Davies, the American Booksellers Association’s new IndieCommerce director, will be sending out a new issue of IndieCommunication every other Wednesday.

Where Do Your Website Visitors Come From?

Where do you think most visitors to your website come from? The IndieCommerce team is asking booksellers to answer a quick, one-question, anonymous survey. The survey’s results will be shared and discussed in the next IndieCommunication newsletter. Fill out the survey here.

Upcoming Webinars

Starting the week of February 15, webinars will be held on Tuesdays from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., Eastern Time, and will be repeated on Thursdays from 11:00 a.m. to noon, Eastern Time. For more information on upcoming webinars, visit the IndieCommerce webinar page on BookWeb.org.

“Advanced Search” Link Made Optional

It has been brought to the IndieCommerce team’s attention that the “Advanced Search” link that was added to the “Search” blocks might not fit well in all bookstore site themes.

An option has been added in the “Search” blocks to allow IndieCommerce users to remove the “Advanced Search” link. This setting can be accessed from the block configuration page Structure -> Blocks and selecting “Configure” for one of the two available “Search Form” blocks. When the checkmark is removed from “Show Advanced Search Link?” the link will be removed from both search blocks on the IndieCommerce site.

IndieCommerce users may add a separate link in another block or in a menu on their sites, leading visitors to “Advanced Search”, by using the url path:search/advanced_search. Stores should e-mail the IndieCommerce team with their questions about this feature.

New IndieCommerce Director Would Like to Hear From Users

Phil Davies, IndieCommerce’s new director, is looking forward to hearing from users. In a message to stores in the newest IndieCommunication newsletter, Davies writes:

“One of the most important aspects of my job is to work with you to develop features and services for IndieCommerce that will improve the online shopping experience for both you and your customers. I also want to use this newsletter as a way for us to have those conversations and share information with ABA members. So, please, don’t hesitate to contact me with your comments and suggestions.”
