Stores must be members of their regional independent booksellers association and order a minimum of 15 total pieces from the catalog in order to participate in Independent Bookstore Day.

Among the many items in the catalog, booksellers will find a colorful literary map of the United States, an Elephant and Piggie “Read” onesie, and a signed, limited-edition short story by Michael Chabon.

All merchandise orders will be fulfilled by Ingram. Booksellers without an Ingram account can sign up here.

In addition to the exclusive IBD items, booksellers can order bookmarks sponsored by Penguin Random House, HarperCollins, and Hachette Book Group. Bookmarks can be ordered in increments of 500 via the online catalog; they will arrive in the March Red Box mailing from ABA.

Booksellers will also have the opportunity to discuss party plans for Independent Bookstore Day and hear success stories from colleagues from across the country during the Winter Institute session “Idea Exchange: Independent Bookstore Day,” to be held on Monday, January 30, from 1:55 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. in Room Greenway D/E at the Hyatt Regency Minneapolis.

Visit the Independent Bookstore Day website to learn more about the event; the “For the Trade” section includes a handy month-by-month planning guide as well as FAQs.
