Children’s Institute Scholarship Application Open Until March 31

The American Booksellers Association is currently accepting applications for publisher-sponsored scholarships to the 2016 ABC Children’s Institute, to be held in Orlando, Florida, from June 21–23. Scholarships are open to booksellers from ABA member stores that did not have a Children’s Institute scholarship winner in 2014 or 2015. The electronic application form on BookWeb will be open until March 31. 

Scholarships will cover the conference fee, the cost of airfare or ground transportation up to $400, and two hotel nights plus tax.

Booksellers who dropped off a business card at the American Booksellers Association’s booth at one of the fall regional trade shows also have a chance at winning a scholarship to the Children’s Institute.

Registration for the Children’s Institute is scheduled to open on February 24. The institute will be held at the Wyndham Orlando Resort International, immediately preceding the American Library Association’s Annual Conference. The event, which is once again sponsored by Baker & Taylor, is open to all ABA member booksellers.

An application demonstrates the bookseller’s interest in receiving a scholarship but does not guarantee selection. Winners will be announced in April 2016.
