ABA logoDear Fellow Bookseller:

We are very much looking forward to seeing you at BookExpo in New York City, from May 31–June 2.

Along with our colleagues at Reed Exhibitions, the American Booksellers Association has worked hard to make BookExpo a more focused event, with expanded opportunities for independent booksellers to connect with publishers and discover new titles, and we at ABA are looking forward to sharing some updates with you there, including news about the growing support of backlist among publishers.

We strongly urge you to take a close look at all the programming available at the event, and to take maximum advantage of all the opportunities.

Importantly, some of ABA’s BookExpo programming requires advance registration, which allows us to ensure we are properly prepared for your participation.

If you are coming to BookExpo, here are three things you should sign up for today:

1. Meet-the-Editor — where you will have the opportunity to experience the book editing process through in-person visits with editors at their New York offices. (Preregistration for Meet the Editor is required by Friday, May 12.) Preregister for Meet the Editor here.

2. Publicity Speed Dating — where you will have the opportunity to meet one-on-one with a number of publishers’ publicists on either one or two days so that you can promote your store and discover what publicists look for when planning author tours. (Preregistration for Publicity Speed Dating is required by Friday, May 12.) Preregister for Publicists Speed Dating here.

3. Annual Celebration of Bookselling & Author Awards Lunch — the Celebration Lunch is always a highlight, and it will feature the presentation of the 2017 Indies Choice Book Awards and the E.B. White Read-Aloud Awards as well as the introduction of Indie Next List authors and award nominees. Reserve a seat for the Celebration here.

These events — together with all the other bookseller programming at Book Expo — are unique, once-a-year opportunities to grow your business, learn about book industry developments, and connect with colleagues from across the country that we know you will not want to miss.

See you in New York!

Sincerely,

Betsy Burton, ABA President
