All ABA main store members are reminded to cast their ballots to choose a new ABA president and vice president and three directors to serve on the 2017 Board. A link to the ballot was sent to stores in an e-mail from ABA CEO Oren Teicher on Monday, April 3. Only one ballot per ABA member business will be accepted. The voting deadline is midnight EDT on Tuesday, May 2.

Teicher’s e-mail also included a link to biographical information on the candidates put forth by the Board: Robert Sindelar of Third Place Books in Lake Forest Park, Washington, for president; Jamie Fiocco of Flyleaf Books in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, for vice president and a second term as a Board director; and Kenny Brechner of Devaney Doak & Garrett Booksellers in Farmington, Maine, and Christine Onorati of WORD in Brooklyn, New York, and Jersey City, New Jersey, for their first terms as directors. In accordance with ABA’s Bylaws, space is provided on the ballot for write-ins.

The election results will be announced in Bookselling This Week on May 3, and the new Board members will be formally introduced at the annual ABA Membership Meeting, to be held from 3:15 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. on June 1 at New York’s Javits Convention Center during BookExpo 2017. The Membership Meeting will be preceded by ABA’s Town Hall meeting from 2:15 p.m. to 3:15 p.m.

Questions about the ABA elections should be addressed to ABA President Betsy Burton or CEO Oren Teicher. For a link to the ballot, ABA main store members should contact ABA Member Relationship Manager Nathan Halter.
