  • Circus Mirandus, Cassie Beasley
Penguin Young Readers, 9780525428435, June 2, 2015 (Middle Grade)

Micah's beloved grandfather is dying. When Grandpa Ephraim tells Micah that the stories about Circus Miranda are real, Micah just knows that he can find a way to help his grandpa. All it will take is a miracle. Micah and Jenny, the new girl, are determined: find the circus, find Lightbender, and save Grandpa. Magic, like hope and dreams, comes in many forms. Micah and his grandpa will get their miracle. A charming, tender, hold-your-breath kind of book.

Every now and again a book comes along that completely captures my heart and imagination. CIRCUS MIRANDUS is one of those books. Magic is a precious thing and this story reminds us how important it is to believe. Micah and Jenny are an unlikely, yet perfect pairing. You will root for them all the way and cheer for their happy ending!

Laura Donohoe, Malaprop's Bookstore/Cafe (Asheville, NC)

CIRCUS MIRANDUS, by debut author Cassie Beasley, is magical and real -- if you believe. Micah certainly believes, so does his Grandpa Ephraim and his friend Jenny. Tag along with them on their quest, as Micah searches for the cure to save his Grandpa and you will be entranced with the circus all over again. This is a story about hope and love, and the magic that happens when one's intentions are good and one's heart is in the right place. This is on my favorites list without a doubt.
