Helpful Hints for Submitting Picks Nominations

Some of you may be shy about sending in a nomination. Perhaps you’re thinking, “But I can’t nominate a title, because….”

Hold that thought! Your fellow booksellers told us their Top 3 Reasons They Don’t Nominate Titles. Here are our encouraging replies!

1. Some booksellers say: I worry I can’t write well enough.
   We say: No worries necessary! Our editing team works to ensure that each recommendation is clear and readable. When you’re writing your recommendations, we suggest you pretend you’re talking to a customer about the book – like you do every day!
   
   
2. Some booksellers say: What if I don’t send a submission in at the right time?
   We say: Again, no worries: we’ll keep you posted on deadlines and other guidelines. The easiest approach: as soon as you finish a book, send in your nomination. We’ll enter it into our database so your vote is counted.
   
   
3. Some booksellers say: I won’t bother nominating this title, because everyone else already did.
   We say: Please don’t make that assumption! It would be a shame if an excellent book didn’t make it to the list for this reason. Rather, go with your gut: if it’s a book you’d recommend to a customer in your store, isn’t it a title you’d recommend to readers of the Picks list, too (no matter how popular it might be)?
