Dear Booksellers,
ABA is pleased to offer your store the chance to give away a trip to London to one of your customers. The Independent Muggles for Harry Potter Sweepstakes offers a trip for 4 to London as the Grand Prize. This Sweepstakes is available only to independent storefront members of ABA. Your member status gives you exclusive access to Sweepstakes POP and other materials on BookWeb.org. We hope you will take good advantage of this campaign, which combines the best of independents with the dramatic finale of Harry Potter!
Here is what you will find on BookWeb.org:
The Sweepstakes publicity poster, which can be printed in a variety of sizes. This poster can be slipped into a plastic sleeve and sit on a counter top, go in a front window or on an endcap, or on a front table display. Download the poster to a disc and take it to your local printing business for as many copies in as many sizes as will work in your space. Or print it on-site if you have the equipment! (Be sure to add your store name in the space provided.)
Sweepstakes entry coupons. Customers enter the giveaway by completing the entry coupons and dropping them in a collection box in your store or whichever collection method you choose. You collect the coupons, and mail them to me. (See below for address info.) ABA's promotion firm, Promotion Mechanics, Inc. will choose the winner. Again, print out the coupons in whatever quantities you like, either in-house or outside. It is intended that the coupons will be used for customers attending your midnight parties or other events, or otherwise coming into the store during a very limited time. IMPORTANT: The entry period is July 20, 2007 at 10 PM EST to July 24, 11:59, EST. That means you shouldn't accept entries completed at other times.
We have created two versions of the entry coupon. One allows front and back copying -- the customer information is on the front, the sweepstakes rules are on the back. The other contains the customer fill-in lines and rules on one side. Please be sure if you use version 2 to include the back copy of the rules, so the Sweepstakes complies with all applicable laws and regulations! It is imperative that customers be aware of all aspects of the sweepstakes, including their right to mail in a postcard as their means of entry.

Coupon V2 (Print on two sides)
Sweepstakes Official Rules. Please review these Official Rules, which should be posted conspicuously in the store. (Abbreviated rules are below, for your reference.) The rules will explain all the pertinent dates -- when the sweepstakes period closes, when the winner will be announced, and some details on the trip. If anything is not clear, don't hesitate to get in touch with me.
ALL ENTRY COUPONS SHOULD BE MAILED SO I RECEIVE THEM NO LATER THAN AUGUST 2, 2007!! Read Bookselling This Week (news.bookweb.org) for the winner announcement.
Scholastic has created another poster exclusively for ABA member bookstores, and we have posted that on BookWeb.org as well. This poster promotes ALL books in the Harry Potter canon, and is a lovely complement to table displays. Actually, it works anywhere in the store!
